Welcome to GuilfordRailSightings@yahoogroups.com, the ORIGINAL GRS railfan group! Guilford Rail System is comprised of the former Boston and Maine, Maine Central and Springfield Terminal railroads. GRS operates on roughly 1,600 mi of rail in New England and New York. South of Springfield, MA, Guilford operates on Amtrak. Guilford Rail System interchanges with multiple railroads throughout their system including:


CSX Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Providence and Worcester Canadian Pacific New England Central Vermont Rail System

Guilford mainly uses four-axle EMD power. Coal trains for Mt. Tom, MA and Bow, NH run with foreign power. Canadian Pacific power runs into East Deerfield, MA. CSX, UP and BNSF can also be seen on occasion.
